EL Malecon (The Boardwalk) Ecuador's three largest cities are Guayaquil, Quito & Cuenca. Ecuador's largest & major port city is Guayaquil. Guayaquil is growing & business opportunities are better each year. In 2000 Ecuador "dollarized" their economy & they are now using the US dollar. Ecuador is trying to make it easier for anyone who wants to start a new business & Guayaquil is a good place to start your new business. Foreign investment has almost doubled since 2000. Inflation has dropped & GDP growth is rising quickly ! In reference to property & homes with a little effort you can find some excellent deals. Like, large colonial homes & haciendas with many rooms & thousands of square feet of living space for $20,000 to $50,000 dollars. If you have an income of $1,000 per month you can live very well. With more than a thousand you could live extra well. You can have a cook or house keeper for $35.00 per week. Have your hair cut for $2.00 (or) less. Take a taxi any where in the city for about $3.00. Property tax is "very little" ! Taxes in general are not much and in some cases there is no tax ! In an effort to attract new business Guayaquil has built a beautiful boardwalk along the Guayas River & down town Guayaquil. It is a beautiful place, it has underground parking, shops, parks, restaurants & much more. Local people & tourist love spending time on the boardwalk.
